Bridging Events and AI: A Journey of Innovation

There's a speical kind of magic that happens when the thrill of live events meets the power of cutting-edge technology. Throughout my 20-year journey in event management, I've been captivated by how digital tools, and now AI, have reshaped the way we create unforgettable experiences.

My journey into events was unconventional, to say the least. Armed with a degree in electrical and electronic engineering, I found myself naturally gravitating towards organising table quizzes, parties, and events as head of the Engineering Society. Little did I know that this engineering background would become the cornerstone of my success in events - from problem-solving to creating alternative solutions. In my world, there's no such thing as "can't" - it's just that it hasn't been done yet.

Entertainment runs deep in my veins. From the tender age of 8, I was tearing tickets at the family cinema in Ballybunnion, Kerry. By 14, I was calling bingo numbers and handling responsibility. Small-time entertainment, perhaps, but every night from June to September, it was showtime in Ballybunion. These early experiences laid the foundation for my passion for creating memorable moments.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of producing over 100 award ceremonies, summits for more than 10,000 people, and intimate dinners for just 20 guests. My events have taken me across the globe, from the bright lights of New York to the lush landscapes of Killarney. But regardless of scale or location, one thing remains constant: the most important aspect of any event is how it makes you feel.

In recent years, I've fallen head over heels for AI. It's become an indispensable tool in everything I do, every single day. The beauty of AI lies in its ability to take away the pain of admin and mundane tasks, freeing up more time for creativity and innovation. Sometimes I wish I had more hours in the day just to think of new ways to leverage this technology! That is why I'm thrilled to now be at the forefront of integrating AI into the events industry and I'm excited to deliver a course for the AI Institute: AI for Events.
